Bawabat al Sharq Mall hosted ‘Children’s Week’ festivities for students from the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Persons with Disabilities (ZHO). The organization visited the mall with 50 students for a multifaceted vocational and entertainment excursion.
The private event provided a controlled and welcoming environment for the special needs children and their families to experience a day packed with fun, development and learning.
The initiative aims to be a steady voice of reason promoting the right of children to grow in a positive environment, encouraging the mainstream community to be a nurturing environment for children with special needs as well as supporting differently abled children to explore their full potential across academics, arts, and sports. Themed as ‘Early Intervention Key to Happiness’, the event focussed on early detection and intervention of disabilities.
The day at the mall saw a senior ZHO representative officially open the festivities followed by a highly entertaining performance by a group of talented special needs children.
Art workshops were organized for the pupils to explore their artistic side. Paintings and photographs of the amateur artists will be displayed in the main atrium of the mall for public viewing.
The official ceremony closed with a public speaking session about the importance of early identification and intervention for children with special needs. The itinerary for the day concluded with an invitation for the children to play at Wanasa Land Entertainment followed by dinner provided by Sacwich and Pasta Tutti Giorni.
“Constantly enhancing the quality of life for children with special needs and their families by integrating them into activities along with the mainstream community remains a steady focus for the Organization. Through events like Children's Week we hope to draw national-wide attention towards further acceptance of children and individuals with special needs as well as celebrating their successes great and small”, Said Abdullah Ismail Al Kamali, Head of Special Needs Sector, ZHO.
Al Kamali added, “The Children’s Week launch event was a great success and we are very pleased with the support extended by Bawabat al Sharq Mall to make the students feel comfortable in this environment”.
“Children’s Week is a great initiative to reflect on what we can do as a community to create and maintain a positive environment for our children. It was an informational and fun day and we are proud to establish an adaptive mind-set and environment for the Zayed Higher Organization and its pupils within the Baniyas community", said, Jean Pierre Nammour, Bawabat Al Sharq Mall
The celebrations will continue until Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at ZHO’s centre. For more information about upcoming activities and events schedule please visit: www.zho.ae
