In line with its unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of People of Determination, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO), in collaboration with the Emirates Medical Association, organized a series of events to mark UAE Medical Day—a national initiative held annually in May. The campaign aims to promote public health awareness, support preventive care, and advance medical education through community-based activities and services.
Held in coordination with the ZHO Youth Council and with the participation of leading healthcare institutions including Burjeel Medical City, Al Reem Hospital, Fakih IVF Center, and Shareefa Yateem Rehabilitation Center, the event drew significant attendance from People of Determination, their families, and ZHO staff, who actively engaged in health awareness sessions and on-site medical screenings.
As part of the event, a panel discussion entitled *“Building an Inclusive and Equitable Society” featured prominent healthcare professionals who addressed key health challenges faced by People of Determination. The discussion highlighted the importance of early detection, comprehensive rehabilitation, mental health support, and access to reproductive health and family planning services. The session aimed to empower parents with reliable health information and strengthen collaboration among medical partners to achieve integrated healthcare solutions.
In collaboration with Burjeel Hospital, ZHO also launched a comprehensive screening campaign for People of Determination and staff. The initiative included general medical consultations, vital sign assessments (cholesterol, random blood sugar), ENT and hearing screenings, dental and vision checks, nutritional consultations, and emergency response awareness. The campaign underscored the importance of regular health check-ups and contributed to fostering a supportive, health-focused workplace culture within the organization.
Commenting on the occasion, **His Excellency Abdullah Abdulalee Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organization, stated: “At Zayed Higher Organization, we believe that health is the cornerstone of empowerment. Our participation in UAE Medical Day reflects our ongoing efforts to create a supportive environment that enhances awareness and ensures access to specialized and comprehensive medical care for People of Determination. We value our partnerships with national healthcare institutions, which are fundamental to building an inclusive and integrated care ecosystem.”
Sheikha Dr. Alya Humaid Al Qassimi, Secretary-General of the Emirates Medical Association, expressed her pride in the Association’s longstanding contribution to continuing medical education since its establishment on May 9, 1981. She noted that the designation of May 9 as *UAE Medical Day* is a tribute to the dedication of healthcare professionals and a platform to express gratitude for their continued efforts to safeguard the health of the community.
“The Emirates Medical Association strongly supports initiatives that address the needs of People of Determination. Promoting health awareness among this cherished group and their families is a shared responsibility that calls for collaboration across all sectors,” she added.
She also praised Zayed Higher Organization’s pioneering role in integrating healthcare within its broader empowerment framework, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to supporting national efforts to build a healthier, fairer, and more inclusive society.
