In a significant step towards making healthcare services more inclusive, the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) has entered into a collaboration with Burjeel Medical City (BMC), the flagship facility of Burjeel Holdings. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the entities aim to enhance access to healthcare and therapeutic services for people of determination, with a focus on providing community services on a broader scale.
His Excellency Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of ZHO, and Aysha Al Mahri, Deputy CEO, BMC, signed the MoU during a ceremony held at the hospital in the presence of Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings and senior leaders from both entities. Under the agreement, BMC will collaborate with ZHO to offer a range of specialized treatments, rehabilitation services, and early disability detection programs. The hospital will also complete rehabilitation therapy services for people of determination when they return from abroad.
The MoU explores potential avenues for collaboration, including the provision of occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behavior modification services at the Abu Dhabi Autism Center’s headquarters, under the cooperative oversight of the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Department. Additionally, it also seeks to offer rehabilitative therapeutic services at ZHO’s physical, speech, and occupational therapy centers as well as provide rehabilitation doctors, pediatricians, neurologists, and general practitioners to the Autism Center and other care centers within ZHO to offer behavior modification services. The entities will also facilitate the dissemination of the ‘Ifhas’ initiative, a program designed for the early detection and prevention of chronic diseases among employees and their families.
BMC will offer early detection services for disabilities during both pre- and post-pregnancy stages, in collaboration with the Comprehensive Evaluation Department. Additionally, ZHO members will be able to utilize Burjeel Darak facilities to aid in rehabilitation and leverage the advanced sports rehabilitation hall within BMC to support participants in the Olympics and various sports tournaments. Furthermore, the agreement includes a provision for granting a 20% discount on hyperbaric oxygen therapy for ZHO’s employees.
H.E. Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary General of Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, welcomed the partnership with BMC. He recognized Burjeel Holdings as an integrated healthcare provider with its extensive network encompassing hospitals, medical centers, and pharmacies across the UAE, Oman, and India. According to him, this collaboration is an extension of ZHO’s ongoing efforts to provide a diverse range of care and rehabilitation services to its members. H.E. Al Humaidan emphasized the alignment of strategic objectives and shared vision for social responsibility, aimed at attaining sustainable social development and cultivating a healthy society. He also commended the collaborative efforts between ZHO and BMC in utilizing 3D printing technology for orthopedic purposes.
