In support of the development of the scientific aspect of its functional cadres, and the awareness and education of families having a child with autism, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, represented by its Zayed City Center for Care and Rehabilitation in Al Dhafra, is organizing for two days via video conferencing, the First Al Dhafra Forum for People of Determination 2023, which deals with autism spectrum disorders, with the participation of certified trainers from outside the country.
To Educate Families and Shed Light on Updates in Scientific Research and Studies
In support of the development of the scientific aspect of its functional cadres, and the awareness and education of families having a child with autism, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, represented by its Zayed City Center for Care and Rehabilitation in Al Dhafra, is organizing for two days via video conferencing, the First Al Dhafra Forum for People of Determination 2023, which deals with autism spectrum disorders, with the participation of certified trainers from outside the country.
The Forum aims to shed light on all that is new in research and scientific studies dealing with this category, starting with the life of the child in early intervention and beyond, in addition to consolidating joint regional cooperation, which the ZHO is carrying out with a number of Arab and foreign countries, because of the role of this communication in improving the quality of the methods and means by which services are provided to different groups of people of determination.
Reem Al Mazrouei, Director of Madinat Zayed Center for Care and Rehabilitation, said: The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is keen to provide a decent life for all segments of society, especially people of determination, including those with autism, as it has established specialized centers to care for and rehabilitate them and work to empower them and integrate them into society and in appreciation of their families for their endeavor to guide them towards giving. Zayed Higher Organization in terms of its responsibility towards the various categories of people of determination in their service and care, works to raise awareness among families with autistic children about autism disorders and its symptoms, and to strengthen the role of autistic people and strive towards their inclusion and empowerment in society.
She also added: Therefore, we seek to put forward targeted projects, initiatives, and programs within our operational plans, giving the opportunity to enhance the role of research and advanced scientific studies in this field to benefit parents, mothers, and families as well as our specialized cadres. In this context, we decided to organize the First Al Dhafra Forum for People of Determination 2023, which will be held over two consecutive days, with one worksheet for each day, to facilitate the attendance of parents and our cadres from all the care and rehabilitation centers of the ZHO.
The Forum focuses through two worksheets to increase awareness, and education, the first worksheet on applied behavior analysis, by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sheyab, director of the “ABA RESOURCES” center, on how to deal with the behaviors of students with autism spectrum disorder, and to enable families to work on behavior modification ( Advice and guidance) and indicators of the occurrence of undesirable behaviors in the external environment, while the second worksheet is about promoting independent living for people of determination by Dr. Isha Khurshid, a consultant in special educational needs in the United Kingdom. The worksheet talks about improving growth processes in the emotional, cognitive, and social fields and the impact of early intervention to develop the life path of the autistic child.
