On the occasion of International Youth Day, and driven by the belief that youth are the future, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) launched a couple of initiatives benefiting its members of determination.

On the occasion of International Youth Day, and driven by the belief that youth are the future, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) launched a couple of initiatives benefiting its members of determination. This comes as part of ZHO's endeavor to translate the aspirations, directions and interest of our wise leadership with regard to youth, pioneers of development and builders of the future, to harness all capabilities and resources that enable them to participate effectively in the state’s development process.
Initiative one is launching the second external branch of The Bee Café for people of determination at the headquarters of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), in an embodiment of the vision of the wise leadership geared towards creating an inclusive society that allows empowerment of people of determination and provides a decent life for them and their families, as part of the community initiatives and their involvement in the sustainable development process. The café is intended for promoting and raising awareness of the skills and capabilities of people of determination in various areas. It is the first-ever café in the UAE, fully operated by people of determination. The café, which runs for the official working days at the ERC’s headquarters, offers a wide array of specialty coffee options prepared by people of determination and available for purchase by the ERC’s visitors, customers and employees.
Opening the café comes in implementation of the joint cooperation agreement signed between ZHO and ERC, aimed to empower people of determination and highlight their achievements and potentials by providing opportunities contributing to supporting them and promoting their employment and community integration.
Initiative two is the production of a documentary on young people of determination, titled "Youth are Leaders". It highlights the importance of the role of youth in the transition towards a green economy and the promotion of a culture of sustainability. It is designed to highlight their great capabilities to fully integrate into society, challenge disability and turn it into productive work force, which demonstrates their excellence and good skills to prove themselves, and contribute to development and renaissance efforts.
For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Al-Humaidan, ZHO’s Secretary General, voiced his thanks and appreciation to the ERC’s officials for their fruitful and distinct cooperation with ZHO to launch the Bee Café branch at the ERC’s headquarters. He also thanked Aldar Properties for providing the café with all equipment with the accounting system. It is a groundbreaking step in the field of empowering and employing people of determination that comes under the directives and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ZHO, he noted.
He asserted that ZHO strives to enable the role of people of determination in society by establishing strategic partnerships with many government and private bodies to train and qualify them to obtain specialized certificates in fields suiting their abilities and tendencies. They have already been rehabilitated and trained to enter the labor market in various fields and many innovative projects, including The Bee Café for specialty coffee, branded bee, which is associated with various products of people of determination, he said.
Al-Humaidan added: “ERC is one of the entities having successful strategic partnership with ZHO. Opening the café comes within their distinguished partnership to carry out one of ZHO’s most important innovative projects, aimed at moving people of determination to a new stage outside the umbrella of ZHO’s centers to serve as an experience for them and an opportunity to show their abilities and their engagement into society more closely and directly. We are pleased to move the café team, consisting of employees of determination with a barista supervisor, to the ERC’s headquarters, a step to create new job opportunities in the project of the Bee Café branches for people of determination”.
For his part, His Excellency Hammoud Abdullah Al-Junaibi, ERC’s Acting Secretary General, affirmed that opening the Bee Café vital project embodies the interest of ERC and ZHO in constructive and fruitful cooperation to empower people of determination economically and socially, create appropriate conditions for them to actively participate in the social and productive life and help them achieve as much of psychological and social compatibility and economic and financial independence.
The congruence of visions and goals between ERC and ZHO led them to enhance the capabilities of people of determination, make them entrepreneurs as an important segment of society that can contribute to sustainable development processes, highlight their energies, creative ideas and pioneering innovations to serve their community, and provide them and their families with a decent life.
Al-Junaibi hailed ZHO’s role in training and rehabilitating people of determination, preparing them well to enter the labor market and providing them with the necessary care in various fields, noting that ERC will spare no effort to support ZHO's directions and benevolent efforts in this vein, for further economic, social, humanitarian and service gains for people of determination.
Salwa Al-Maflahi, Director of Sustainability and Social Responsibility at Aldar Properties, said: “The Bee Café project is tangible evidence of the great potential of community entrepreneurship and its role in achieving positive change in society. We are proud of our successful partnership with ZHO and ERC in this unique project which continues to grow and expand with the opening of its second branch. The Bee Cafe is the first café in which all its employees are people of determination with various disabilities. Its first branch is located at ZHO’s headquarters in the Mafraq Area, at the entrance to ZHO’s Abu Dhabi Rehabilitation & Care Centre.
